A drop of water on a stone
\njust once or twice a year
\nwears very little on it’s face
\nthe stone should have no fear<\/p>\n
The same drop dripping all day long
\nfor decades at a time
\nWill wear the surface clean away
\nof granite, sand, or lime<\/p>\n
Life’s little drops of indiscretion
\ntaken here and there
\ndon’t make us fat and old and sick
\nnor make us lose our hair<\/p>\n
It’s coffee, Cokes, and alcohol,
\ntobacco smoke, and cakes
\nand foods deep fried with lots of salt
\nthat makes our pains and aches<\/p>\n
‘Tis when we swallow every day
\nthe fats and Cokes and smoke
\nLike the stone, we wear away
\nIn time our health is broke<\/p>\n
It’s pandering to our appetites
\nbad habits formed while young
\npoor choices made at every meal
\nto only please the tongue<\/p>\n
It’s failing to accept the truth
\nand living like the crowd
\nthat robs us of our health and youth
\nbefore God’s time allowed<\/p>\n
Like the constant drip on stone
\nWe wear away our strength
\nUntil our constitution’s blown
\nand life has shortened length<\/p>\n
Always keep foremost in mind
\nthat things done now and then
\ndon’t hurt atal’ compared to things
\nwe’ve done for days on end<\/p>\n
There’s Wisdom in this little rhyme
\nto take with frown or grin
\ncontinue doing what you’ve always done
\nand you’ll be where you’ve always been<\/p>\n
