Bills to Oppose

These are bills that would weaken health freedom and eliminate access to natural health products. Their names are Orwellian. They have nothing to do with "consumer protection", "health", or "protecting America from terrorism".

Let's begin with Susan Davis' HR 3156, one of the most destructive...

HR 3156 Dietary Supplement Access and Awareness Act

Susan Davis Introduced by Susan Davis and co-sponsored by Waxman and Dingell is a strongly pro-pharma, anti-health bill that gives the FDA a green light to ban all nutrients. Permits the FDA to ban any nutrient which has any degree of risk associated with it - no matter how small - even in the absence of any harm from that substance.

S1873: Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005

S1873 and HR3970 are paired bills which would provide for compulsory vaccination with unknown, untested and secret materials. Companies manufacturing these vaccines would be absolved of all liability for any damage and death which their products cause and the public would be barred from learning what they had been injected with despite the damage caused.

No safety measures or exemptions are provided for despite the fact that vaccination has been shown to be a highly questionable and exceptionally dangerous procedure even with known and tested vaccines.

S1873 Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005 Introduced by Sen. Richard Burr (NC) and co-sponsored by Lamar Alexander, Elizabeth Dole, Michael B,. Enzi, William B. Frist and Judd Gred, this bill sets up a secret agency, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Agency (BARDA) with power to declare an emergency for unspecified reasons and then compel the use of unknown substances for compulsory injection. BARDA would operated without public oversight and its actions, decisions and selected substances are not available for public scrutiny or control. This bill and its companion HR3970 protect vaccine companies from liability for damage or death from their untested and compulsory vaccines.

Powers to declare an emergency and potential sources of emergencies are so broad under S1873 that virtually any condition or perceived threat can be the spur to order invasive, dangerous and untested compulsory "treatments" with no public input.

HR3970: Bioterror and Pandemic Preparedness Protection Act

Introduced by Darrel Issa (CA) and co-sponsored by Robert E. Andrews and Randy J. Forbes, this bill sets up a secret agency, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Agency (BARDA) with power to declare an emergency for unspecified reasons and then compel the use of unknown substances for compulsory injection. BARDA would operated without public oversight and its actions, decisions and selected substances are not available for public scrutiny or control. This bill and its companion S1873 protect vaccine companies from liability for damage or death from their untested and compulsory vaccines.

Powers to declare an emergency and potential sources of emergencies are so broad under HR3970 that virtually any condition or perceived threat can be the spur to order invasive, dangerous and untested compulsory "treatments" with no public input.

SA 1379 attached to S 1042
Richard Durbin
Diane Feinstein

Sponsored by Richard Durbin and Dianne Feinstein, would create an adverse event reporting requirement for supplements (remarkably safe, no deaths) while none exists for pharmaceuticals (remarkably dangerous, hundreds of thousands of deaths annually). It also bars the sale of stimulants on military bases except caffeine containing liquids!

HR 2485 DSHEA Full Implementation and Enforcement Act of 2005

Introduced by Burton and Pallone appropriates $175M between now and 2010 to give the FDA more money to enforce regulations which are highly detrimental to supplement manufacturers and would expose them to more stringent regulatory requirements than those faced by the pharmaceutical industry.

HR 2510 Dietary Supplement Regulatory Implementation Act of 2005

Sponsored by Pallone is an even worse version of HR 2485. In addition to the above, it provides for the by-now-all-too-familiar adverse event reporting system for supplements, but not drugs, an additional $10M to ?educate? physicians and consumers about dietary supplements and forbidding ephedrine alkaloids altogether. This is HR 2510 on steroids and must be defeated.
