Food additives are regulated by the FDA and USDA. These two organizations have the power to make sure you food is clean, wholesome, accurately labeled and free of both filth and contaminants. But, tragically for freedom, food and your health, they do not.

Instead, they bow to industry pressure to lower standards, hide contaminants and toxins, thus increasing the dangers of foods to consumers, the unimaginable horrors of food production at every step along the way, agricultural labor, factory food operations, slaughter, harvest, processing, and, finally, the horror of what that food does to you and your loved ones: the preventable, needless and tragic diseases that cost us our lives, our health and, ultimately, our freedom to make other choices.
Even organic standards are degraded both by the USDA and Codex (which are, in many ways, one and the same) to the point where they are becoming meaningless, with virtually unlimited GMO contamination permitted in the US, more chemicals permitted in the production of organic vegetables, fruits and animal products and a softening of procedural safeguards and product restrictions in those standards – all unlabeled, of course!

And deeply embedded in this slavish subjugation of real regulation and protection, corruption and callous disregard of our health and that of our planet, is Codex Alimentarius, http://www.codexalimentarius.net/web/index_en.jsp, the United Nations Commission which sets up standards and guidelines covering every single bite or drink of food, every nutrient, every swallow of everything that can legally go in your mouth except drugs.
And who runs Codex? Basically, the US, in cahoots with the EU, decides what they want and then bulls it through the process to ratification by the annual Codex Alimentarius Commission.

The Natural Solutions Foundation attends some of the huge numbers of Codex meetings each year (there is one just about every week somewhere in the world) and what we see is that the US is serving its lethal constituency, the Bigs: Big Pharma, Big Agribiz, Big Biotech, Bic Chema and Big Medica. Of course, we undersand that the same companies which make the agricultural chemicals and additives are also the drug companies. They are also the industrialized agriculture companies.

Just as Big Pharma is working very hard to drive natural medicine out of existence since that is its primary competitor, so it and its sister industries, its sister Bigs, are working just as hard to take over all food production all over the world. After all, healthy people mean sickly profits for an industry that makes money only when you are sick, healthy profits mean sick people. And healthy food means slickly profits for the chemical, irradiation and GMO companies, all tightly tied to Big Pharma.

‘Whoever controls food controls the world’, Henry Kissinger told President Nixon in 1974 when he authored his then-secret National Security Memorandum 200. That same document stated what the World Health Organization would state at around the same time: that it was ‘necessary’ to hold depopulation as the primary goal of US foreign policy, “starting with the third world”. That is the reason that WHO gives for creating, and continuing to deploy

And that is precisely what Codex is: an extension of the US foregin policy of depopulation, with a huge dollop of greed and immoral deception thrown in for good measure. It is, in fact, nothing short of a globalist conspiracy, at the top levels, using food to contaminate our food supply and eliminate the “useless eaters” of the world, those who are consuming the non-renewable resources which the elite believe they own by some sort of diving right of Illuminati kings. I do not think you will look at Codex again, or the US involvement with it, the same way again.

Ah, you say, not in the US. Our food is clean and industries are held accountable for what they put in our food, do to our food, allow to happen to our food. That depopulation stuff is just for the third world, isn’t it?

Dream on. The very industries which FDA, EPA and USDA were created to curb, control and corral have become the owners, though intense corruption and vastly deep pockets, the dictators of the limp regulations which do not curb them, control them, nor protect anything but their interests, public be sickened and be dammed. Our food supply is horrifyingly degraded, minus accurate labeling.

How degraded? Take a look at the article following this article and realize that you are looking at Codex on the hoof, that, with a few minor differences, the contamination and adulteration described here, making you sick with illnesses of supposedly unknown origins like cancer, heart disease, MS, MD, arthritis, diabetes, auto immune disease, chemical sensitivity, birth defects, autism, infertility, psychiatric illnesses and on and on and on are also Codex on the hoof.

Wrap you mind around the reality that clean food is not easy for mega industries to produce, so it is not profitable. What is not profitable is not produced and, if someone else, for example, small farmers, produce it, they will be driven out of business.

With the help of the US Congress. The House of Representatives has passed legislation which, if passed by the Senate, will criminalize the production and sale of clean healthy foods. Senator Harkin’s bogus Food “Safety” Bill, S. 510, will give the entire food supply to Big Agribiz with no checks, balances or redress AND give vast amounts of power to the FDA, which Rep. Dr. Ron Paul says is already abusing its power to our detriment. We agree with Dr. Paul. Giving more power to what is arguably the most corrupt organization in the developed world is not a reasonable action.

Worse yet, our contaminated food requires an increased supply of nutrients but Senator John McCain has introduced another bogus Food “Safety” bill, S. 3002, which will destroy the legal basis for your access to the nutrients that over 90% of the US Population chooses to use to maintain or regain health.

The Natural Solutions Foundation knows that these bills are intended to destroy access to clean, unadulterated food, a prime requisite for health and freedom. We know that the high likelihood is that these two dangerous and anti-health, anti-freedom bills will be merged into a single omnibus piece of death-dealing legislation which will literally criminalize the production, sale or consumption of clean food and nutrients.

Please note that the contamination, irradiation, adulteration, chemicals permitted (including sprays of fluoride produced by Dow Chemical Company at 3300 ppm on your food to prevent it from getting moldy, for example), are just as much a problem as the meet additives listed below.

From where I sit, every single decision made by Codex, which really means made by the US Government on behalf of the multinational corporations, is a decision to degrade your health, curtail your freedom, mandate under nutrition and then use your suffering to ruthlessly control you and yours by eliminating all options for health choice and natural health options. Food is List of Additives Allowed in Meat & Poultry (Yum!)

Want to know what’s in your meat and/or poultry? The government’s got a new 40-page PDF document, http://www.fsis.usda.gov/oppde/rdad/FSISDirectives/7120.1Rev1.pdf, with a complete list of allowed additives. And, to help you decipher the list, they also provide a Glossary of Commonly Used Meat and Poultry Additives and Terms, http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Additives_in_Meat_&_Poultry_Products/index.asp.

Here’s a sampling of what you’ll find in meat & poultry. By the way, many of these chemicals do not need to be labeled on the products you purchase. Honestly, some of these things might be harmless. Even water can sound like a dangerous chemical if you refer to it as dihydrogen oxide. But the sheer length of this list as well as the fact that consumers are in the dark about most of them makes me very glad that I’m a vegetarian and that what little meat I’ve eaten in the past several years came directly from farmers I know.

Acidifiers: Ammonium hydroxide, an aqueous solution of acidic calcium sulfate, an aqueous solution of hydrochloric and acetic acid, an aqueous solution of citric and hydrochloric acid, an aqueous solution of citric acid, hydrochloric acid, and phosphoric acid, an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid, citric acid, and phosphoric acid, sodium bisulfate, and sulfuric acid.

Anticoagulants: Sodium tripolyphosphate

Antimicrobials: An aqueous solution of sodium diacetate (4%), lactic acid, (4%), pectin (2%), and acetic acid (0.5%); an aqueous solution of sodium octanoate or octanoic acid and either glycerin and/or propylene glycol and/or a Polysorbate surface active agent (quantity sufficient to achieve the technical effect of octanoic acid emulsification) adjusted to a final solution pH of 1.5 to 4.0 using sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, or an acceptable GRAS [generally regarded as safe] acid;… (the list goes on for many pages and includes such gems as anhydrous ammonia and chlorine gas)

Antioxidants: BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole), BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene)

The trustees of Natural Solutions Foundation, http://www.HealthFreedomUSA.org, have been warning for years that federal government power brokers have a plan to force Americans to give up their health freedoms and submit to centralized, internationalized restrictions on what we can choose to nourish our health and that of our families. It is, after all, the same plan being used to destroy the dollar and our other freedoms. GMOs are part of the problem as are dangerous vaccines, but right now the immediate threat lies in two companion phony “food safety” bills in the US Senate.

WE Dare Call It “Conspiracy”!

If you’ve been following health freedom in recent years you’ve seen some of the extraordinary reports by our own Dr Rima from the international Codex Alimentarius (World Food Code) meetings where attacks on health and freedom are often launched. Five years ago she warned about “Nutricide” – the intentional destruction of the body of knowledge about nutrition and health and the equally intentional deaths of large numbers of people through food manipulation.

Well over a half million people have seen that presentation. In that video she warned that the plan was for Codex controls to be implemented by the end of the first decade of the new millennium. Mandated under nutrition was to be instituted through Codex and billions would die of what WHO and FAO call the “preventable, non-communicable epidemic diseases of under nutrition: cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke diabetes and obesity”. This past November you saw Dr Rima expose the genocidally low “daily reference values” Codex wants to impose on nutrients. While your “Push Back” last year stalled Sen Durkin’s disastrous “Food Safety” [sic] bill, S 510, that would have led to the suppression of family farms and ranches, natural agriculture, community gardens and the like, there is an effort being made by the usual power brokers (e.g., Big Pharma’s lackeys in both parties in the US Senate) to move their agenda forward by introducing yet another bogus “food safety” bill, this time S 3002, the “Dietary Supplement Safety [sic] Act” (DSSA) which would mandate the most important part of the Codex nutrient control system, the “approved ingredient list” for the US AND give the already bloated and deadly FDA power to take ANY nutrients off the market reneging on existing legislative protection for them.

This would be, in fact, exactly like the system imposed over the past few years in Europe, resulting in the complete loss of many nutrients (vitamins, herbs, minerals and amino acids) and, for those that remain, tremendous reductions in potency. NutraIngredients.com, a leading wellness industry site, reports that the European Food Safety Agency has rejected 80% of the “dossiers” seeking ingredient approval. Eighty percent of our nutrients could be taken off the market too!

We know for sure that high doses of fluoride will be permitted, but real nutrients are to be reduced, as they are in Europe, to totally ineffective levels. What’s left? Pharmaceuticals. Period.

That’s what Americans face – for sure- if the disastrous McCain bill is adopted.

We predict that something even worse is actually intended to take place: McCain’s bill will be merged with the companion Harkin “safety bill” S 510 and both our foods AND our supplements will become subject to more political power for the FDA to abuse. This is, you will recall, the same FDA that regularly approves drugs which prove so deadly that, within just a few years, half of them are quietly removed from the market. The same FDA which whitewashes mercury in vaccines, protected vaccine manufacturers from all liability, allows profound personal conflict of interest in the regulators who approve drugs and vaccines, refuses to allow GMO labeling….

Need we go on? This is one of the most dangerous and corrupt agencies in the US, and these bills would give it enough power to destroy what remains of either health or freedom, all at the behest of companies like Monsanto, Merck and their malignant ilk.

McCain introduced the bill last Thursday. The next day, the Natural Solutions Foundation sent an emergency Health Freedom Action eAlert to the www.HealthFreedomUSA.org list. We were, as far as we know, the first health freedom group to take action on this disastrous proposal by Senator McCain, who would seem to be securing his retirement pay with Big Pharma.

You’ve responded as we knew you would, riding your Freedom Mouse, generating over 75,000 emails to the Senate and President, since Friday night, saying “NO!” to the fake “safety” bills. We’ve seen clear evidence on the Internet that this issue is “going viral!” This means people are sending this information to all their social, personal, business and other contacts, beginning the process of generating an avalanche of public sentiment against the restrictions these bills would impose. DISSING Health Freedom

With the McCain bill’s apt acronym, DSSA (“DISS-sa”) we see the agenda playing out to our detriment, unless we take every step possible to stop this gambit to force through fake food and supplement “safety” bills. If they pass, the only thing safe will be Big Pharma and Big Agribiz, Big Biotech, Big Chema and Big Medica profits.

Learning from Europe’s Health Freedom Loss

Why is an “approved list” so bad? Here is what our own Counsel Ralph Fucetola has to say about this threat to our health choices, “The “Accepted Dietary Ingredient List” is especially troubling since such a code provision moves us away from our Common Law Right to access the foods we choose to a Civil Law (that is, Codex Alimentarius) regulation of what we may choose. Under the Common Law what is not explicitly forbidden is allowed; under the Code (“Civil Law”), whatever is not permitted is forbidden. This “lawyer’s distinction” is of the greatest significance in preserving our Liberty.” Only those things on the list will be permitted. The list is very, very short and the doses are very, very low.

A spokesperson for the Life Extension Foundation wrote about another aspect of the loss of health freedom which this bill assures, the vibrant nutrient marketplace: “If it were not for the technological advances made possible by private enterprise, the adverse effects of governmental ineptitude would have rendered this nation insolvent decades ago. Said differently, if it were not for the increases in productivity and reductions in costs made possible by free enterprise, government waste and fraud would have already destroyed us. “

The US will be “HARMonized” with the disastrous European Food Supplements Directive, under which, for example, colloidal and nano silver were taken off the market on January 1, 2010, homeopathic remedies are increasingly illegal to purchase in Germany, nutrients are less and less available and Europeans’ freedom to chose natural, safe, effective treatments have been virtually destroyed.

When the Natural Solutions Foundation calls a spade a spade and identifies what is taking place on a global basis as a war against the people we are not speaking lightly. We mean it literally.

Arial Spraying, GMOs and beyond, vaccines…. Horrifyingly, the list goes on and on.

Consider: even though the bogus Swine Flu Level 6 Pandemic fizzled, the genocialists STILL want you to take your Swine Flu shots. Why?

Consider the H1N1 vaccine, which is causing a rising tide of spontaneous abortions in perfectly healthy pregnancies.

Consider: despite the fact that mercury is a known neurotoxin, 800,000 doses of mercury free Sanofi Pasteur vaccines intended for very young children have been withdrawn for sub optimal potency. Another 4.7 million doses of Medimmune’s (Astra Zenica) Nasal Spray vaccine have been withdrawn for the same reason.

Is the vaccine cabal getting ready to announce that squalene, the incredibly dangerous adjuvant which, in large doses, causes not only profound and lethal auto immune disease, but sterility when injected is “needed” to “save” the potency which has “mysteriously” dropped below previous levels? Remember that the US government inexplicably purchased over 1/2 billion dollars worth of this unapproved and very, very dangerous injectable adjuvant.

(By the way, it is not clear if the women who miscarry will ever be able to carry a pregnancy again.)

No one, we are told, knows why the potency dropped after manufacture. Of course, we are not told that there is not a shred of evidence that high OR low potency vaccines have any protective impact. That they are dangerous and do not prevent infection is quite clear.

There is, however, a huge body of knowledge which says that the mercury-rich doses that the babies will receive (if their parents are naive enough to trust the government!) will damage them, possibly forever.

And we know enough to understand that a substance which is a known toxin for fetuses, often causing fetal death (which may be the reason that so many pregnant women are loosing their babies after being vaccinated) is also a toxin for the babies who will be unlucky enough to receive the replacement 800,000 doses WITH mercury and the kids who will receive the 4.7 million replacement doses for the “sub potency” H1N1 vaccines.

Consider: H1N1 Vaccine, has NEVER been tested for safety…

Consider: There is zero evidence that the immune titer (response) associated with H1N1 vaccine (or any vaccine, for that matter) actually provides any protection against the disease). Sub optimal or not, the stuff is, at best, useless, and, at worst life threatening…

Consider: WHO, a private corporation like the FED, receives more than 2/3 of its funding from Big Pharma, whose products it creates global markets for and whose interests it serves. WHO created this organism, this pandemic and this vaccine danger.

The same organization has been researching and USING sterilization vaccines against women since 1974 all over the world. Why not in the US now?

Welcome to 2010, the year we either win our freedom or lose it for at least the next millennium.

Think that’s an exaggeration? We don’t.

The War on the People was declared long ago in the halls of Globalist power brokers, but it has, until recently, been one of the best, the most well-kept secrets on the globe.

One of the outstanding successes of the Natural Solutions Foundation (and we are proud to say that it is not our only success, http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?page_id=195!) is that we have been able to alert a planet-wide community, including you, to the fact that each of the assaults on our health and our freedom is not an isolated event.

Each is a battle well financed and well planned to make it harder and harder for each of us to do what we want to do: live in health and peace, watching our lives and families prosper based on our personal and community needs and wishes.

Pardon me? Excuse me? Third wave? What “third wave”? What “second wave”? Other than media hype and despicable non-science, what “first wave”?

Instead, the Globalist plan, their Agenda is just the opposite:

– Contaminate our food [e.g., Codex, GMOs, pesticides, toxic waste as fertilizer, etc]

– Control our health choices (e.g., Government control of our resources, choices, pharmaceutical medicine only, eliminate natural medicine and health choices, including high potency supplements)

– Control our information (e.g., mainstream media “poison press” re: nutrition, eliminate information through FDA, FTC censorship of claims so that, for example, “Nano Silver, www.Nutronix.com/naturalsolutions, can kill the pandemic organisms” becomes an illegal statement, “Cancer is a preventable disease of under nutrition and is best cured through low cost, non toxic strategies like intensive nutrition” becomes an illegal statement, etc.)

– Discredit opposition concepts (e.g., there is a global conspiracy to depopulate the planet, supported by incontrovertible proof, global warming is a sham concept supported by flawed science for political purposes) as “conspiracy theory” through the power of the Main Stream Media, a Weapon of Mass Deception)

Instead of a globalist agenda for depopulation and slavery (which is what any fair-minded person must call the state of affairs when someone else makes your health, food and illness-care decisions for you and your children in spite of your wishes), the Natural Solutions Foundation joins you in supporting a Planetary Agenda, one where

– Each of us has the choice to seek, obtain and maintain health in the ways that make the most sense to us

– No one has the right to compel us to accept vaccination, medication or contamination which is unacceptable to us

– We are free to access information without restriction

– Clean, unadulterated food is available to us as we choose

– No medication or treatment (including any vaccine) may be forced upon us for any reason

– Governmental and non-governmental policies which accept and support depopulation must be canceled and those responsible for them must be removed from positions of authority

National and international agencies dealing with issues which touch on food, health and security must be made answerable only to people and the influence of corporations must be eliminated through restoring full legal liability to corporations and removing corporate “personhood” behind which corporations hide their culpability. No corporate shield for willfull misconduct!

Too much to expect for 1 year? Perhaps. But since the thrust to solidify Globalist policies and impact is moving so rapidly, the Trustees of the Natural Solutions Foundation believe that 2010 will be the year in which we, those with a Planetary Agenda for Freedom, either gain the high ground or loose it to those with a GLOBALIST Agenda for depopulation and slavery.

We will not accept the World Health Organization, a private corporation like the Federal Reserve Board, taking world control of world governance via a make-believe pandemic of their own creation.

We will not accept the US Government taking control of the US food supply to turn it into a Weapon of Mass Destruction while the Illness Care Industry preys upon our induced weakness and disease with dangerous and ineffective vaccines, drugs and procedures while ending the right of each of us to grow or access clean food.
We will not accept the US Government rationing our health and our disease for its own purposes.
We will not accept the nationalization of our health care information for purposes we cannot even guess at accurately
We will not accept the status of health slaves, food slaves or information slaves.

Congratulations to us, well, sort of! We asked you, the Health Freedom NetRoots, to create Push Back against the horrific Food Fascism Bill, S. 510, misnamed, of course, a Food “Safety” Bill. The U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP Committee) “marked-up” S 510, getting it ready for speedy, and quite disastrous immediate passage.

This bill gives the FDA yet more dictatorial power over our food, our lives and our deaths, yes, our deaths. We have been fighting this bill back when it was HR 2749 and we defeated it twice during the last days of the Congressional session. But at the last possible moment before the House broke for its August recess, it was rammed through, ready to go to the Senate.

Agribiz, Big Pharma, Big Biotech and Big Medica love this bill because it gives the dangerously corporate-controlled and famously corrupt FDA the power to destroy your ability to access clean, healthy food. You’ll be sicker and more dependant on industrial food while the FDA kills what is left of the farming and growing opportunities that bring you clean, unadulterated, non irradiated food.

Done deal, right? NOT SO FAST! Reuters reported yesterday that because ‘there was too much going on’, the vote would not take place, most likely, until 2010. They can spin it any way they like (“Congress is currently mired in debate about overhauling the U.S. healthcare system”).

But what really happened is that you pumped 486,474 Action Item emails out! Riding your Mighty Freedom Computer Mouse, YOU told the august US Senate that they have a serious problem on their hands. So they are delaying, disseminating, backing-off to our Push Back!

Thank you! But as the old joke goes about the young woman on a first date with a man she had been warned would ruin her reputation by taking serious advantage of her (as they used to quaintly say!) when she told him how surprised and pleased she was by how nicely he had treated her all evening, he smiled and said, “You ain’t home yet!”

We won this battle twice in the House: the bill was defeated in two floor votes. But at the 11th hour, 59th minute and 59th second, it was rammed through by the minions of the industries I have mentioned above. That could happen again UNLESS you and I put forth such a barrage of opposition that the bill must be abandoned.

That means that this Action Item MUST go to your Senators once for every member of your household and MUST be propagated by you, and you alone, to YOUR list because your list trusts YOU.

The Obama administration is pushing new farm controls which will drive small and independent farmers off the land, literally leaving the field to Agribiz, (implementing all of Codex through complete HARMonization and allowing the FDA to declare Marshal law) through Congress as fast as possible. They have coordinated the bills so there will be no debate and committee meetings are closed.

The Senate bill actually includes a clause instructing the FDA to advise Congress on how to HARMonize with Codex!

Your intrepid lawyers, healthcare experts and legal researchers continue to prepare the second round in the litigation challenging the FDA’s approval of the uninsurable, un-safety tested 2009-H1N1-A “Swine Flu” influenza vaccines. These are the vaccines the Federal Government bought for $6.4 billion and then approved and recommended and is now distributing across the country…

To have standing to challenge the approvals the Court told us we must have Plaintiffs who are at risk of harm from being mandated to take the vaccines. Our original New York healthcare Plaintiffs prevailed in that the regulation which would have forced them to take the vaccines has been suspended, but that meant they no longer had standing in the Federal case.

While offering lip service to public concerns about protecting family farms and organics, Sen. Tom Harkin, Chairman of the Senate Committee considering the fake Food “Safety” bill, made some interesting comments about Codex and DSHEA:

He confirmed that Codex Alimentarius (the so-called World Food Code) does not trump DSHEA — Dietary Supplement Health and Safety Education Act of 1994 (the law that allows the USA to have the most potent nutrients and most vibrant nutrient market in the world) — “DSHEA … governs the law here, not Codex standards…”

Chairmen Harkin further stated: the provision in S 510 (see above) that requires FDA to “make recommendations including whether and how to harmonize with Codex does not signal any intent to move in a different direction on DSHEA…”

Senate Poised to Pass Fake “Food Safety” Bill – Harkin says DSHEA still governs

UPDATE: November 24, 2009: This message from Citizen for Health Senior Policy Advisor, James Gormley ,”…the amended version of S. 510 adds three major improvements related to dietary supplements, organics and Codex:

“–New language exempts “…any dietary supplement that is in compliance with the requirements of sections 402(g)(2) and 761 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (21 USC 242(g)(2), 379aa-1).”

“–In the case of organics, the new version omits “any requirements that conflict with or duplicate the requirements of the national organic program established under the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990…”

“–And, regarding Codex, the original S. 510 recommends harmonization while the amended version suggests only that it is to be considered. (While this is a small improvement, CFH opposes harmonization and is still concerned with other language in the bill which may allow harmonization in “through the back door”.)

Clearly the thousands of letters generated by CFH members and allies, as well as visits to Capitol Hill by industry and consumer stakeholders, paved the way for these critical improvements to the bill….”

As one of those Allies, Natural Solutions Foundation would like to congratulate the 171,331 “Mouse Warriors” who were responsible for sending 856,000 messages to decision makers, including over 150,000 in just over three days.

We’re not happy about the changes, which do not meet the minimum demands of Heath Freedom proponents, so we need to continue to send messages to the Senate about the need for proper protection for family farms and ranches, home and community gardens, farmer and garden markets, natural and organic production!

We did manage to get some protective exemptions into the bill for small farmers who sell food directly to consumers or to restaurants, but they are, frankly, weak and will not be enough to protect your food or our farmers. But the Senate bill has much weaker protections, just mentioning minor exemptions for restaurants once and farms twice.

We need to rally people immediately to submit this letter to the Senate and contact their Senators to demand accountable voting on this bill.

Transparency, change, undoing Bush’s regulations, giving the public time to comment, grassroots anything? None are visible in the current legislative process. Our entire food system, and thus our health, is being given to the last people with any interest in quality or safety: Big Abgribiz. This is going on in the absence of public scrutiny. Those who do know what is happening, of course, have zero access to the process and to the major media. Meanwhile, the media is absent while Congress is moving at warp speed to sew this up.

There will be no direct, frontal assault on organic farming but an insidious process of “infecting” organic farming with regulations, “traceability” requirements, required practices and prohibitions enforced by truly draconian fines and prision terms for even minor offenses running to hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars and 8 years in prison for minor offenses.

Example: imagine Joel Salatin’s wonderful organic farm under the direction of the USDA, with detailed instructions on what he must feed and when, how he must medically “treat” his animals and with what, what he must “spray” and when, … you get the picture. These bills will industrialize all farms and insure the farmers are forced to buy chemicals and drugs. Organic is dead. As well as human control over the food supply. As well as health.

H.R. 2749 includes a weak exemption for farmer to consumer or restaurant sales because of the Push Back we generated. But the bill has now passed the House and it is imperative that it NOT pass the Senate. More Push Back is needed for more protection for farmers, gardeners, community farming, all local food production (including yours!) and food processing.

We’ve set up an Action Item for you to send an unmistakable message to your Senators. We must educate the Senate that you value organic farmers and small farming and do not do not want independent farmers regulated out of existence. You do not want “Big Agra” regulations applied to organic and small family farms and ranches or to natural/organic food products, including Dietary Supplements.

PETITION

To Amend S.510 or Any Food Safety Modernization Act or Similar Bill
By the Addition of the
Natural and Family Food and Farming Exclusion Amendment

To: The Members of the Senate of the United States of America:

Whereas the proposed Food Safety Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services should focus its activities on the significant public administration issues involving the capacity of large scale, industrialized agriculture to threaten public safety,

Whereas organic and natural agriculture, family farms and ranches, and natural or organic food products, including dietary supplements are not a significant part of the food safety problem, and

Whereas Congress previously provided for an exemption for natural food dietary supplements from the increased agency authority granted by the FDA Modernization Act of 2007, through a rule of interpretation, added as section 1011 of that Act, and has on numerous occasions exempted small and family farms from the same level of regulation as has been deemed necessary in the case of industrialized agriculture,

The citizens ascribing to this Petition therefore hereby request that any Food Safety Modernization Act identical or similar to HR 2749 be defeated, or that it, or any substitute for it be amended to exclude organic and natural agriculture, family farms and ranches, and natural or organic food products, including dietary supplements, through a rule of interpretation, as follows:

“Rule of Interpretation

“No provision of this act shall be deemed to apply (a) to any home, home-business, homestead, home or community gardens, small farm, organic or natural agricultural activity, (b) to any family farm or ranch, or (c) to any natural or organic food product, including dietary supplements regulated under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994.”

We also note the language of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 USC sec 203 (s) (2) which provides, “(2) Any establishment that has as its only regular employees the owner thereof or the parent, spouse, child, or other member of the immediate family of such owner shall not be considered to be an enterprise engaged in commerce or in the production of goods for commerce or a part of such an enterprise…” Language such as this would be helpful to allay our concerns.

If the FDA Center for Food Safety is to be moved into a new Food Safety Agency, then Dietary Supplements, regulated as foods under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) should be included in such agency, with the proviso that such substances, as foods, are deemed safe when used as directed.

Furthermore, the ascribing citizens Petition the Congress of the United States to declare it the public policy of the United States that organic and natural agriculture, home and community gardens, family farms and ranches, and natural or organic food products, including dietary supplements shall be at all times free from suit, vexation, trouble, penalty, or loss of their goods, for the inestimable values they confer upon the public.
