Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going

It’s been quite a while since I had the email connectivity to get a letter out to you and, as you can imagine, a huge amount has happened in that time.

As you may recall, the Indian Food Safety and Security Act passed recently in India classifies nutrients as foods. Of course, it is the regulations which determine if a law works for health or not, so we were thrilled to be able to present our vision for that law to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries where the regulations will be promulgated. How did that happen? Well, Arun Shrivastava, an Indian rural development and food activist, wrote to me and asked if I would address the Indian Rural Governance meeting. The Panchayat is a government organization which organizes governance from the farm and village level through the local level to the regional level. Many of the people involved in it and touched by it are farmers so their decisions on GMOs are vitally important. Their decisions on pesticides, on synthetic fertilizers, etc., are crucial.

As I recounted in my blog for November 20, the President of that organization is also the Minister for Food Processing Industries. When I shared “Nutricide: the DVD” with him, he read the statement on the cover and asked if Codex was not as good as he had been led to believe. I affirmed that, indeed, it was not as good as he had been led to believe and he immediately asked me to set up an appointment with his people. We saw his Private Secretary a few days later and then, because our information was so important, we were asked to do a power point presentation on our issues and solutions (and that is really crucial: we HAVE solutions!) the very next working day (November 27).

Of course we did make that presentation, which you will be able to see shortly on the website at www.HealthFreedomUSA.org. The result? The Natural Solutions Foundation has been asked to participate in creating the regulations for this potentially excellent law, probably in a process which will take place here in India in March, 2007.

Why does this matter to your health freedom and mine? Because India is a major player in the world’s economy and in Codex. And the Food Safety and Standards Act is a non-Codex compliant law! So India has, in fact, taken up the Codex two step process we have been advocating and now, with the regulations which we will help to promulgate, can begin the process of a major world economy moving out from under Codex. As she does that, she can create clean food and nutrients for her own use (not officially threatened by Codex, but threatened in terms of pressure on countries to comply and in terms of what they can block at their borders) and in terms of trade. Remember, countries which adhere to a higher standard than Codex for strong scientific reasons can trade their clean food INTO Codex compliant countries (like the US, EU, etc.) And remember, too, that smaller countries with weaker economies will come along much more easily with an emerging giant leading the way.

Is the job done? Have the Bigs, Big Pharma, Big Chema, Big Biotechna and the rest decided to give up the fight and go home? Of course not. But by being here, by working to develop relationships, by explaining our solutions and our perspectives, by being helpful in a genuine and meaningful way, the Natural Solutions Foundation is changing the climate of thought which has, for so many years, allowed Codex to dominate international food trade and standards and to endanger the health and well-being of every man, woman and child in the US.
You probably remember the stunning and very important successes we have experienced in Thailand on this trip. We will be going back to Thailand early in 2007 to continue to work with the folks there. For example, we have been asked to put together a cancer and an HIV program in Bangkok based in natural and nutritional medicine. This would, of course, not be to the liking of the folks who are moving to make nutritional and natural medicine unavailable. So demonstrating the power of natural medicine and developing passionate adherents inside the Thai system means that Thailand moves one step close to becoming Codex Defiant, rather than Codex Compliant.
Again, being here, on the ground, with practical, legal and trade solutions to the pressures being put upon them from the US, Codex and the multinationals makes it easier for them to develop a health-protective national policy and a health-positive Codex policy.

4. The amount between your cost (the price you pay) and our cost is your donation to the Natural Solutions Foundation and is, under US law, tax deductible
5. You get an email confirming your order and documenting your donation which you print out and file
6. When you pay your taxes, you present the email confirmations you have printed and filed and take the deduction allowed under the law for charitable deductions, NOT for medical expenses. Nutrients are not currently deductible under US law. Charitable donations are. You are making a charitable contribution for the difference between our cost and yours.
We will ask you to share this wonderful service with all of your friends and acquaintances so they can have the benefit of these pure and wholesome products. We will also ask you NOT to purchase products from the Natural Solutions Foundation which you are currently buying from your health professional since your purchases in their offices helps them keep your costs down and represents a significant income stream for most practices which provide nutrients for sale.
If you are lucky enough to have a health care provider who supplies nutrients to you, then you probably “top off” your personal care products needs and nutrients for yourself and your family since you use additional items. Those are the ones you should buy from the Natural Solutions Foundation.

If you don’t currently buy your nutrients from your health care provider, though, we would like to be your nutrient shop. Your health and your health freedom will thank you.
