New Jersey is leading the assault on health freedom at the moment. That is a dubious distinction which it has earned by attacking anyone’s right to discuss health, food and nutrition besides Rigistered Dietitians, and a new set of horrific mandatory vaccination requirements which

• Send the Vaccine Police to preschools to examine vaccination records (what happened to medical privacy, by the way) and impose a fine of $500 per day per unvaccinated children under 5 years of age
• Refuse to honor religious exemptions if the child has had any vaccinations whatsoever, citing an “all or nothing” policy not supported by the language of the statute
• Increase vaccine requirments to include the flu vaccination every year starting at age 6 months to age 18 – and now (fasten your intellectual seat belts) –
• Require that homeschooled children are vaccinated to the satisfaction of the superintendent of schools in their home district or be forced into school!

Codex Without Natural Solutions Foundation – That’s Just What They Want. Is It What You Want?

The Natural Solutions Foundation covers the broadest sepctrum of health freedom issues of any organization in the world. And we have the largest mailing list and readership of any health freedom organization in the world, too. That’s the good news.

Our impact within the Codex community has been significant: we provided the scientific dossier which allowed fluoride to be forbidden in infant formula for normal babies despite the vigorous attempts of the US to make sure it was included. We have assisted the African countries, including South Africa, with the science they need to solidify their opposition to GM foods, especially unlabled GM foods. In fact, partially because of our assistance, South Africa, a strong proponant of GM foods (including baby food with 97% GM contents!) now has reversed course and is requiring compulsory GM labeling! Our accomplishments and strong coalition-building at Codex are something that you can be proud of and take heart from because you have supported it and made sure that we were there at meeting after meeting, visiting leaders in country after country. But what happens if the Natural Solutions Foundation is not present at the upcoming Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) meeting, scheduled from November 3-11, 2008 in South Africa?

Well, what happens is that there is no one there, literally no one, to mobilize, catalyse and organize the creative opposition to the multinational corporation take over of the international food supply – that’s your food, you know.

The US forces through whatever awful, globalizing, anti-nutrition, pro-profit food policy the Bigs (Big Pharma, Bic Chemica, Big Agribiz, Big Biotechna and Big Medica) want and then turns around and brings their prize home for the FDA, USDA, EPA, FTC, etc., to implement “Because Codex says we have to!” even if it violates US law, your health and your freedoms.

A perfect example is the ban on speech that links health and food or food components (does that sound familiar?). That’s the game the US plays. Sadly, the one self-declared health freedom organization which is an official observer either does not show up at Codex (they were nowhere to be seen at the last two Codex meetings the Foundation attended) or, if present, certainly does not speak strongly and clearly for you and me in any effective way.

Delegates trust us and know us. They know that we are able to provide information that helps them protect their food supply and national health or, if they don’t know that at the beginning of the meeting, they learn it clearly as the meeting progresses.

The bad news is very simple: economic stress. To quote a famous Presidential Candidate, “It’s the Economy!”

While the world and US economies have been bouncing around and creating havoc for most, and unimaginable profits for a very few, the Bigs have plenty of money to move their agenda forward.
