Our intrepid Health Freedom trustees, Dr Rima E. Laibow MD and Maj Gen Bert Stubblebine (US Army ret) traveled from the Foundation eco demonstration project at the Valley of the Moon in Panama to Dussledorf Germany for a Codex Alimentarius meeting, the Committee on Nutrients and Foods for Special Dietary Uses. Dr Laibow just skyped me some information about the events at the meeting that we wanted to share with you all.
Examples of insane “Nutrient Reference Values” (read: nutrient upper limit) recommendations for Codex:
Vit C – 45 mg (you need 60 to ward-off scurvy!)
Calcium – 1 gr (women need 1.2 gr to prevent osteoporosis)
… but lots of toxic fluoride permitted…
Malaysia does not want to develop Nutritional Reference Levels for Non Communicable Diseases since they want to work on Vitamins and Minerals as mandated by Codex.
One NGO asked why nutrients should not be considered below 36 months including fetal impact of nutrition. Committee Chairman GK’s response was fascinating, including slip of tongue substituting “contraception” for “conception”:
GK: the fetal programming begins at the moment of [sic] contraception but it would be inappropriate if we go for anything before 36 months since this is where the child starts to e t what the parent eats so we will not consider that.
Back to Codex: in the process of setting UPPER LIMITS for intake of nutrients that are implicated in Diet-Related Non Communicable Diseases the expert consultations and data of WO/FAO are to be given primacy despite the facts that:
1. Upper limits through Nutrient Reference Values (NRVs) for nutrients which are necessary for health like Vitamin A are set so low that they are meaningless in health terms (as we said when we were vigorously opposing the passage of the Vitamin and Mineral Guildelines way back in 2005)
2. Upper limits for NRVs for nutrients which are supposedly dangerous and should be eliminated (like Na, which people seem to be in agreement needs to be limited) make no sense wahtsoever as a publiv heath measure since, despite popular belief, there are wide variations in the need for sodium while some types of saturated fats, such as medium chain triglycerides and CLA, are urgently important in health.
Important update: the planned finishing off of Codex is clearly not going ahead as planned: they are making plans for things to happen in 2013, 2015, etc… we will have time for Push Back! We can stop this if we all work together.
Although CCFL requires CCNSFDU to come up with the NRVs on sodium and Saturated Fat, there is a lot of disagreement here about doing that. US supports inclusion of sat-fat and Na, in a proposed new work document US gives first priority to nutrients referred by CCFL so including them would be appropriate and US supports it. US supports everything… since US, behind the scenes, pre-arranges everything!
International Council for Beverage makers supports the US but wants sodium, not salt, to be included. The Bigs bickering!
Only voice against this is Malaysia and some NGOs
IDF supports Maylasia in its notation that individual sat fats have different activities
Argentina supports Chile.
IFT: the effects of individual sat fats are very different so it is important to not put all sat fats together. Chile put sat fats and trans fats in the same boat and it is important to not lump them together
US proposed an electronic working group for NRVs for NDCs but at a physical working group prior to next meeting we could work on NRVs for vitamins and minerals since they are still in square brackets [which is how Codex draft documents show items for which there is no consensus]

2 Sep 2009: Poll reveals nearly half would refuse to be vaccinated against virus, suggesting widespread concern about its safety … Almost half of all pregnant women say they will refuse to be vaccinated against swine flu once the jab is available, suggesting there is widespread concern about its safety, a poll has revealed.
Pregnant women are one of the target groups for vaccination identified by experts advising the government. In July, a study in the US showed they are more at risk of complications if they get the virus and more likely to end up in hospital than other people. Six pregnant women in the US died of swine flu complications between 15 April and 18 May.
Yesterday’s survey, published by the website mumsnet.com, confirms the fears of the authors of the US study, which was published online by the Lancet. It showed almost half (48%) of pregnant women who responded said they probably or definitely would not have the jab if it is available. Only 6% said they definitely would and 22% said they probably would…

Why Should I Support This Action?
We believe that this legal action gives us the very best shot (pardon the pun!) to STOP THE SHOT of anything happening in the US because, unlike the other people bringing US court actions (bless ’em all!), we have followed the law and exhausted our administrative remedies before going into Court. We are seeking injunctive relief to prevent vaccines without any safety testing behind them from being injected in the US. Since the US denies it is going to call for mandatory vaccination (we do not believe them!) there is no way to sue in Court to prevent what has not (yet) been called for. Sadly, those well-intentioned cases will fail.
Asking the FBI and other agencies to bring criminal actions will either take years to succeed (making the issue moot) or be ignored. Asking the County heriff’s to exert their valid legal power against the combined might of the local Police, State Police, National Guard, US Military, FEMA and the DHS/FDA/EPA, to say nothing of foreign troops, mercenaries and UN troops, seems like a total waste of time to us. We hope Sheriffs pf every county in the US stand up to the combined might of these arrayed forces, but we are talking about worse odds than Don Quixote ever had.
Our challenge is based around the simple principles that
1. The FDA is compelled to follow US law, no matter how much it believes (and behaves as if) it is exempt from the Rule of Law.
2. US law says that drugs (and therefore vaccines) MUST be PROVEN safe and effective before they are released for use in the public.
3. Squalene-containing vaccines have never been tested for safety or approved for use in the US – in fact, they have been turned down for testing because the FDA said they were too dangerous to even tes.
4. Pandemic H1N1 vaccines will complete their safety trials in July, 2010.
5. In 2004, a Federal Judge ruled that vaccines with squalene could be used only on a voluntary basis with full risk disclosure and informed consent in the US, and only under Emergency Use Authorization.
6. There is no true emergency to warrant an FDA Emergency Use Authorization.
7. There is no informed consent possible in the absence of known risk factors. Without completed safety testing, there is no way to know risk factors. At the moment, all of the risks known suggest that injected squalene poses a very serious danger.
8. Under no circumstances may the FDA violate the law and release these vaccines before the legal requirments are fulfilled.
9. The First Amendment protects our Right to Petition for Redress of Grievances.
Thus, we are seeking an Emergency TRO to protect every man, woman and child in the United States. What happens in the US will have enormous significance in the rest of the world on this issue.

FDA announced on July 23, 2009 that it would approve for use in children and pregnant women FIRST a group of vaccines upon which no safety testing results are available. Obama: Americans Should Get Swine Flu Vaccine
“President Barack Obama says that while swine flu vaccine will be voluntary, the government will ‘strongly recommend’ that people get it.
Obama told reporters in the Rose Garden that the federal government is taking a coordinated approach to fighting the expected outbreak, including ramping up what he says will be a “voluntary but strongly recommended” H1N1 flu vaccination program.”
In a well-publisized Press Conference today, President Obama tried to quell the fears raised by groups like the Natural Solutions Foundation which point out that Federal Regulations and State emergency powers bills make pandemic vaccines mandatory.
Declaring that swine flu vaccine will be voluntary but that the government will ‘strongly recommend’ that people get vaccinated, the President today did nothing to allay the fears of those who perceive that the government has set itself up to declare that the shots are voluntary while creating a situation of such duress that the choice to acdept the ‘strongly recommended’ vaccine would, in fact, be no choice at all.

On August 17, 2009 The Natural Solutions Foundation legal team took action to prevent the FDA from approving vaccines whose safety had never been tested and whose deadly components, including the oil squalene, had previously been held by both the FDA and a Federal Judge as too toxic for use in the United States! Not only do Pandemic Vaccines, for a non-issue, made-up, hyped-up make-believe fake “Pandemic” offer a multi-tens-of-billions-of-dollars windfall to the Big Pharma, they bring you an endless nightmare of permanent illness which will require the kind of continuing – and expensive – medical treatments on which so many Gulf War Vets spent so much money and from which they got so little relief. The only “relief” is to the “happy face” bottom line for big pharma.
FDA knows full well that its “Pandemic” vaccines, although laced with aluminum, squalene, mercury, formaldehyde and a host of other horrors, do not work and are dangerous. In fact they acknowledge that the H1N1 Vaccine – before the addition of squalene and other adjuvants – may well maim and kill 30,000 or more Americans – starting with children and pregnant women!
They say that these vaccines will be accepted if they create antibodies (which “may be associated with” protection, but may not) in 4 out of 10 recipients with at least 70 percent of those 4 (4x.7=2.8 people!) achieving an antibody level BELIEVED to provide benefit. This means that an acceptable vaccine candidate would provide possible “protection” for 28% of vaccine recipients or less than 3 out of 10 recipients. The requirement drops to 18% efficacy for those over 65 years of age (60% of 30%)
Now add to that the fact that public records show that the Pandemic vaccines with squalene contain a million times more of the damaging lipid squalene than the source of Gulf War Syndrome, Vaccine A, and you have a nightmare scenario which simply must not take place.
That is why the Natural Solutions Foundation once again took the lead, as it so often does, and suggested to pivital leaders in health freedom that we work together to create a legal action to stop the FDA from violating US law by approving vaccines which have not gone through safety testing. You have heard us offer to work together with health freedom groups and leaders. This time, we had some profound conversations with real leaders.
We initiated a request for an Emergency Stay in the form of a Citizens Petition on August 17, 2009. An incredible 14 days later, we finally were granted a docket number (the next step for forward movement) as both a Citizens Petition and a Request for an Emergency Stay. We know that our document was so well crafted that we tied the FDA up in knots trying to figure out how to respond to us until, finally, our Citizens Petition was reviewed by a top attorney there. They knew they had to deal deal with our petition. But the way the FDA granted the Docket gives them 180 days to respond, by which time the damage will certainly have been done to every child and pregnant woman in the US.
Not Acceptable!
Our petition for Emergency Relief is being treated by the FDA as if there were no emergency! That is good news and bad news. It’s good news because we have been granted a docket number so the FDA accepted our concerns as legitimate. It’s bad news because they have given themselves 180 days to deal with the situation. They say there is a Pandemic Emergency but there’s no emergency when it comes to safety testing… logical? NOT!
When you have gone through the process of a legal challenge like a Citizens Petition, you are said to have “exhausted your administrative remedies” and the case is now considered by lawyers to be “ripe” for Court action.
Well, we have completed the process of exhausting our administrative remedies since the process offered by the FDA will allow the Emergency to come to pass without any effective action, so now we can go into Federal Court for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to prevent the release of untested vaccines laced with squalene and other horrors, for which no manufacturer has a shred of liability if you die, or are injured cataclysmically
Our documents are ready. So are we.
Now we need your support in two ways to carry this Court case forward.

By now it is old news that doctors in the UK have been alerted to watch for a significant increase in Guillan Barre Syndrome (the fancy-dancy name they made up in 1976 for Polio caused by the disastrous Swine Flu vaccine which, like this one, was going to save us from a pandemic so terrifying that, absent the vaccine, we were all going to die.
As we all know now, the only people, other than possibly one soldier – and that is unclear – who died from Swine Flu were the people who died from the after effects of the Swine Flu vaccine, manufactured the same way that the new generations of SFV are being made – except for the fact that the modern ones have adjuvants and toxins no one had thought of polluting our bodies with back in 1976.
The proposed “safety trials” for the H1N1 vaccine will not be concluded until June, 2010, long after virtually every person in the US has been injected with — what? Who knows. The adjuvants, including squalene, are not being tested in this trial, nor are subjects with numerous health conditions allowed in the trial.
And there is a reason: liability.
If You Know It Is Bad and You Do It Anyway, That Is Willful Negligence. If You Don’t Know, That Is Convenient!
Let me explain. Under the current laws, no vaccine manufacturer or agent of the Federal government, or the government itself, can be held liable for any damage that the vaccine does. You already know that if you have been reading these blasts.
What you may not know is that there is an exception: IF the manufacturer (or government, or its agent) acts with willful negligence, their liability protection evaporates.
That means that IF the safety tests are conducted BEFORE the vaccines are used and IF the vaccines are dangerous (how can they not be? ) and IF they are still used, THEN everyone in sight and hearing, and his brother in law will be sued for every penny they can ever earn. So it is very much in the best interest of the FDA, its agents and its masters, Big Pharma (and their masters, the NWO depopulationists, I should think, see article below), to make sure that this witches’ brew hits our vulnerable and valuable children, our pregnant women and our chronically ill BEFORE it is possible to show “willful negligence”.
Both Big Pharma manufacturers andall Federal Government employees and their agents (like your doctor, for example) are totally exempt from any liability for any damage suffered from the vaccines unless they acted in willful negligence. That means that they do not want to carry out safety testing before you are harmed since that way they can say there was no willful negligence because they did not know that the vaccine was going to harm you.
It is for that reason that our Court Case seeking a TRO BEFORE these vaccines are used, delaying their deployment until AFTER the safety testing is completed is so very, very important.
There are no other actions which we know of in the courts that actually have the possibility of stopping this monstrosity from damaging and killing you. We wish there were and we would certainly support them.
There are significant costs associated with a case in Federal Court and we need to raise the money in this battle. Remember to donate here with a donation ending in the number “6” to let us know to earmark the funds for the legal defense fund.
Oh, yes, one other thing: the “”currently being conducted are on a different vaccine. How could any safety data be inferred when the vaccine you will get has not been used on anyone yet, they tell us.
But when it is time for the dangerous, life threatening vaccines, you and your child might be the first to get them. Then, in the words of HHS Secretary Sebelius, we will “sit back and watch to see if there are too many adverse reactions.”

You are stopped at a checkpoint with your family in the car by armed people. “Have you all been vaccinated with the Pandemic Vaccine?” the Trooper asks.“Show me your RFID stainless steel, government issued and required vaccine record bracelets, please.”
“No vaccine, you say?OK, Sir/Madam, just step over here to this FEMA bus waiting to take you to a quarantine facility.You can leave the kids right there.We’ll vaccinate ’em, put the stainless steel RFID chip on their wrists and make them wards of the State.”
“That won’t happen to me”, you say. “I won’t be quarantined. They better not try to vaccinate me”, you say.
Think again.I can think of no reason to assume that every State in the US does not have provisions identical to those in this chilling Iowa document from the official CDC website which allows that State to say, “We KNOW that you have been exposed to the H1N1 virus and so you are under quarantine. And NOT in your own home.”
Here is a quote from this chilling Iowa document authorizing forced quarantine:
“The Department [of Health] has determined that it is necessary to quarantine your movement to a specific facility to prevent further spread of this disease. The Department has determined that quarantine in your home and other less restrictive alternatives are not acceptable because [insert the reason home quarantine is not acceptable, the person violated a previously issued home quarantine order, the person does not have an appropriate home setting conducive to home quarantine, etc.] The Department is therefore ordering you to comply with the following provisions during the entire period of quarantine….”
By now you probably know that a bill which would fine you $1000 per day for defying the order to be vaccinated is working its way through the Massachusetts legislature. The Pandemic Response Bill, MA 2028, http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/186/st02/st02028.htm, provides for incarceration/quarantine for those who do not wish to be vaccinated, warrantless intrusions, property seizures and a host of other personal affronts. MA is clearly the belle weather, but it is only the first of 49 more UNLESS we raise our voices loud and clear.
By the way, in case you think this destruction of our Constitutional freedoms is a newly hatched plot by a couple of recently empowered lunatics, spend a few minutes reading about Operation Garden Plot, The United States Civil Disturbance Plan 55-2, providing for military and weather support to quell legitimate protests.
Freedom, including health freedom, has been getting in the way of our crypto-fascists for quite some time now. “If any civil disturbance by a resistance group, religious organization, or other persons considered to be non-conformist takes place, under Appendix 3 to Annex B of Plan 55-2 herebygives all Federal forces total power over the situation if local and state authorities cannot put down said dissenters.

The Children’s Hour – or Year
For quite some time now, “disaster plans” have quietly been put in place that would keep parents from reuniting with their children if the schools were put on emergency alert. In fact, a Washington Post article from 2003 makes that point explicitly.
Thus, it is all the more disquieting that teachers in Pennsylvania were being trained and drilled in emergency procedures in which teachers would remain with classes in emergency shelters whose locations are secret which are reached by long, circuitous routes to prevent parents from finding out where their children are. These drills are being conducted to prepare teachers to stay with their classes, even if it means being separated from their own children for an unknown period and with an unknown final destination after initial emergency staging.
What happens to the kids once they are in an emergency staging situation? Will they be vaccinated? And how many times? Apparently even the CDC is not sure how many jabs you’ll get, or your kids will.
“Doctors don’t know yet if it will take one dose or two of vaccine to protect against the new swine flu. Add that to vaccine for the regular winter flu, and it could be a multishot season for a lot of people – or a multisquirt season, for those who choose the FluMist nasal-spray version.
Some possibilities:
-One shot: Older adults currently aren’t on the priority list to get swine flu vaccine but they “should” get the seasonal vaccine, which is available.
-Two shots: There’s a potential for the regular vaccine in one arm and the swine flu vaccine in the other, if that one requires just one dose.
-Three shots: The swine flu vaccine might require two doses three weeks apart, plus the regular vaccine.
–Four shots: There’s even this possibility for some children. Youngsters under 9 who are getting their first-ever regular flu vaccination need two doses of it”

Pushback is Working,
but We’ve Got a Long Way to Go!
On August 28, the Australian government’s plan to immunize the entire population was “in chaos” because insurance companies may not cover doctor’s fees citing inadequate testing and the possibility of spreading other infections, including HIV.
Vaccinations can not go forward unless doctors are insured.
But there is more pushback coming from Down Under: the prestigious specialty medical society, the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases, which categorically defines itself as pro-vaccines, says that there are too many risks to the H1N1 Swine Flu vaccine for the country to go ahead with its vaccination plans, especially now that the danger of a pandemic has passed and there is no need for urgent mass vaccination!
Although Nicoal Roxen, the Health Minister, says that Australia will take delivery of its initial 2 million doses of the untested vaccine, the society says that the multidose vials it comes in (as in the US) “have been shown to transmit infection, spread HIV and hepatitis and even cause death.” The head of the society, Tom Gottleib, points to “examples of spread of infection between patients with HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and so on”. The Government of Australia denies the problem is serious and intends to vaccinate nonetheless.

Canadians ambivalent about whether to get a pandemic flu shot, poll suggests

TORONTO – Canadians aren’t clamouring en masse for swine flu vaccine, a new poll suggests.
The Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll also indicates some parents have concerns about allowing their children to have a vaccine that contains an adjuvant, a compound that boosts the impact of the vaccine and allows smaller doses to be used.
Only about 45 per cent of respondents intend to get pandemic vaccine when the shots become available later in the fall, the poll found. An equal percentage said they would not take the pandemic shot.
Last week an American Red Cross survey suggested as many as 60 per cent of Americans wanted to be vaccinated. A USA Today poll published Tuesday suggested 55 per cent of Americans plan to get a pandemic flu shot.
Modelling studies suggest that targeting children and the adults around them would reduce dramatically the spread of flu viruses.
But while 56 per cent of parents who were surveyed said they planned to get their children under 18 years old vaccinated, 30 per cent said they would not. And when the question turned to the use of boosting chemicals known as adjuvants, reluctance rose. When respondents were asked if they’d allow their children to be vaccinated with vaccine containing an adjuvant, described as a compound that boosts the impact of the vaccine but which hasn’t been licensed in previous flu vaccines in Canada, the percentage of parents willing to have their children vaccinated dropped to 35 per cent.

Clearly, the more hands we have to do the work of health freedom, the more effective we will be. So what better way to attack us than to cut off our communications?
While no one’s private information was jeopardized, the Forum held our contact list of Volunteers, their entries in the Skills Database, the Volunteer Calendar and our accumulated Volunteer Messages. We have emailed Yahoo requesting an investigation.
It’s something that the other side has tried before. Instead of erasing us from the map, it lets people know just how meaningful their efforts for health freedom are and we come back stronger each time!

The Valley of the Moon™ First Anniversary!
Natural Solutions Foundation is about more than just educating decision makers about Health Freedom, our First Freedom. We are about solutions… natural solutions to the many health, food and freedom issues that face the people of Planet Earth. Yesterday was the First Anniversary of the Natural Solutions Foundation in Panama, where one of our two Eco Demonstration Projects, the Valley of the Moon™, in the beautiful, temperate and bountiful Highlands of Panama, is located (the other is in Benin, West Africa).
And what an Anniversary it was! What would you say if I told you that General Bert and I spent the morning of our First Anniversary in David, the Provincial Capital of Chiriqui, with the First lady of Chiriqui, Mrs. Amara Fernandez, the wife of the far-sighted Governor, Dr. Enrique Fernandez, beside us, teaching willing (and eager) 16 and 17 year olds from the prestigious San Augustine Academy and their professors how to create an Intensive Urban Agriculture Garden.
We will also be working with a public school in the town of Pedregal and are creating similar gardens on the grounds of the Governor’s Offices in David. Everywhere we go, other people ask if we can teach them to do the same. There is a general awareness on the part of literally every person we meet that the contaminants in the food here in Panama (and for the rest of the world) are really terrible, but people do not know that they have options to change that.
We are teaching them how to apply those options successfully.
People say that things move slowly here in Panama and, in general, we have found that they do. But when an idea is right and it touches the hearts and minds of people who can make things happen, slow suddenly becomes warp-speed.
Just under two weeks ago we had an appointment with the Governor or Chiriqui, a physician who “gets” environmental dangers and also “gets” what it means to have virtually all of the country’s food produced using dangerous chemicals (the same ones people in the US are eating!). Governors of Panamanian Provinces are appointed by the President of the Republic and therefore represent significant central authority.
So when we told him that we were interested not only in setting up a medical training and service facility but also a BeyondOrganic, Bio Dynamic Zero Emissions™ farm AND farm school for the people of Panama and elsewhere, he became very, very interested. He sent one of his aides to summon his wife from her office. Mrs. Fernandez is a really warm lady who is working with the wife of the President of Panama to teach children how to grow their own food! Of course, when we explained that we were eager to do that, too, through our Intensive Urban Agriculture Program (IUA), using small spaces, little effort, little money and enormous results!
She was instantly interested, as the Governor knew she would be.
Suddenly, we were outside on the balcony of the Governor’s office suite looking at a patch of ground which was being prepared for a garden. The Governor and his wife asked if we could do our Intensive Urban Agriculture there as a pilot project. We said we certainly could. They then asked if we would do a pilot project with them in a public and a private school. “You bet!” we said and suddenly we had an appointment for the Governor and his Lady to visit us in Volcan, about 45 minutes away, on that Sunday so that we could show them what we are doing with our Intensive Urban Agriculture.
We also had another appointment to begin work on the project the next week at the Governor’s Offices AND to meet with the head of the private school since Panama’s public schools were off for a week of vacation.
Sunday arrived and we had a lovely lunch all set for the Governor, his Lady, Yolanda, the lady who introduced us, Gail, our good friend and my Assistant, Gen. Bert, Giselle and Hernan, two bilingual friends who agreed to translate and, of course, me. Yolanda arrived with a friend. No problem. Eight can stretch to 9 with no one but the chef noticing.
The Governor and his party were delayed a couple of hours. The rain (a rainy season late afternoon phenomenon) started and we began to lose the light. At last they arrived. In two large vans, about 22 of them. Hungry. OK, now try stretching 8 to 31! HOSTESS HORROR! Gail and Yolanda, however, knew just what to do. Yolanda sent Hernan out to the store for little disposable plates (of which we had precisely 8 china ones) and Gail turned to his wife, Giselle, and said, “Quick! Bless the fish! We have to do a miracle here and make it feed everybody!”
What emerged, with smiles in place, were lots of little plates for all those hungry people with some salmon, salad, marinated veggies and one of Gail’s astounding cookies (THE best you have ever tasted, no matter where you have ever been) for each person there. Somehow, Gail had brought over exactly the right number of cookies and everything else was just as perfect. We did a slide show on the Valley of the Moon Project in Spanish. Someone had translated our English version into Spanish for our application to the City of Knowledge BUT, as it turned out, very poorly. So, while we waited for the Governor to arrive, Hernan corrected our serious grammatical and other errors. Not to worry: we have been advised to wait a bit before submitting our COK application (to let the political dust settle from the recent presidential election, before we wade into that arena) and so we were spared that embarrassment!
So, slide show accomplished, people eating and beaming at us, off we went, in the torrential downpour which the sky delivered to us just as we left the house for the Grand Tour, to see the IUA boxes, the large and small greenhouses, the very-much-under-construction seminar and medical facility, etc.
The ladies were not shod for wading but that is what they did with, I must say, smiles on their faces. You see, what we have built here is so unique, and provides such a powerful model for reclaiming the production of food that everyone there —
1. Was excited and wanted to be a part of the growth of this idea
2. Wanted to offer their help and get involved.
I cannot begin to convey the sense of excitement and the glowing eyes of this large group of people.
Of course, naturally, wouldn’t you know it! Two days before the visit, we were spraying the gardens with an organic, certified product to control mold on the plants. This is a humid climate and such precautions are necessary. The product is made from specially grown grapefruit seeds grown by a community in Peru which is focused only on this product. It is certified for Organic use in Europe (which I personally trust a lot more than USDA Organic Certification since the industrialization of organic foods is moving downward at a rapid and disturbing pace. For example, there is strong pressure to allow genetically engineered foods into the Organic supply so that Monsanto and others can control every segment of our food, even the possibly still clean foods that we are willing to pay a premium for!
We followed both the written directions carefully, used a very good sprayer which produces a very light mist, treated both sides of all the leaves and awoke on Sunday morning to find that the product had burned huge gray patches in all of the leaves. The magnificent lush plants in our garden boxes when we went to bed with were replaced, as if by a malevolent fairy, with ugly, blotchy leaves and wilted plants.
Heart stopper.
Take a deep breath.
Get the camera out.
Take pictures.
What we realized is that our teaching garden boxes had just taught us something: this spray needed to be diluted by a factor of 10 times more than the label, and our conversation with the specialist in organic agriculture who sold it to us, said to dilute it.
Gulp.
So, when we took the party on the tour, we told them just that. Instead of pulling up the plants and pretending they had never existed, we said that we had learned about grapefruit seed extract and that we had taken pictures so no one else would have to damage their plants in this way. (Over the next several days, I am happy to tell you, the plants have recovered amazingly. Three days more and no one would ever have known. Now that was NOT fun!
But, back in the house, getting dry, the Governor and I had some deep conversations together talking about the environmental hazards of the chemicals used here and the medical hazards of the poor, with few vegetables, diet consumed by many people in this country. Rice and beans and a little chicken or some pork, pastries, bread, cake and sweets. That’s about it.
The Governor is not only enlightened concerning health and health costs, he is enlightened as a physician, a rare reality in the US, I am afraid.
Yes, there are docs like those in the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, www.AAEM.com, and the American College for the Advancement of Medicine, www.ACAM.org, who are awake. But, tragically, still today, the majority of docs know only drugs, surgery and radiation for pretty much everything.
Obviously, they teach internists a whole lot more about health in the medical school Dr. Fernandez attended than they do in the US! In fact, every doctor I have met here understands the dangers of the “Typica” diet. But, aside from a smaller diversity, it is pretty much what hundreds of millions of people eat in the US, although the rice and beans part is a little different.
The number and amount of US export junk food options is appalling here. And then there are the local junk food look-alikes. “Lo mismo.”, they say here, “It’s the same thing”.
So here we were, showing the government of the Bread Basket of Chiriqui a real facility with real progress, offering real hope. They could not have been more eager for us to begin.
Dare I say — We have a Dream — of Chiriqui becoming the BeyondOrganic, BioDynamic breadbasket of the Americas?
When everyone came into our office, one side of which is lined with computers, and the other side of which is lined with our private reserve of supplements (all organic, of course), they were agog. I do not believe any member of the party had ever seen such an array, or so many, supplements in one place.
They asked, every single one of them, if we ran a store. “No,”, I said, “These are our private supply.” Then I pointed out that Gen. Bert is 79 years old and I will be 66 next month. Jaws opened and they just stood there for a while. Then the next thing happened:
Virtually every person in the room asked if they could come to see me for their (or their family’s) health issues.
I explained that we will be setting up the Natural Solutions Wellness Center this Fall (Yes! We need Volunteers and Volunteer Sponsors! See: http://www.NatSol.org) and that we will, of course, be happy to work with them and their families. Some had urgent problems and I agreed, of course, to do some initial consultations.
Wednesday of last week came and we trooped back to the Governor’s Offices to meet with the woman in charge of making sure our project was going to get the support it needed, under the direction of the First Lady. They asked us if we were going to provide the wood, the soil, the string, the plastic, the seeds, the organic compost, etc. We said, “No. The Natural Solutions Foundation will, as our gift to the project, provide the first three gardens, for a total of 20 boxes of 16 1 foot squares, with heirloom, organic seeds. But we do not have the budget to provide the rest of the materials for these projects, let alone the entire nation of Panama. To make that happen, we said, the government would have to get involved. Immediately, the governor suggested that the trees which had been knocked down by the floods last November had been turned into lumber and we could use that enormous amount of wood to make boxes. Other people got into the discussion and soon resources were being suggested.
There were press people there and they promised us some serious coverage.
Everyone at the Governor’s Offices wanted us to start planting right away. Of course, IAU takes a bit more planning than that. We laid out what we would need and were just about done when the Governor’s Press Secretary asked us what we could do about the building. I must admit, I turned around to look at it without any idea what she was talking about. She was kind enough to explain that there were really ugly plants in equally ugly planters which are built into the side of the building. Since the planters never receive any sun, and are apparently watered only as an afterthought they really do look awful.
I suddenly had a wonderful idea: why not create a secondary school contest to design and install a garden under those conditions along with a flower garden in front of the building? Have the kids present their designs, and, for the winners, install them. Then we would have a Chiriqui Beautification Day with a parade (Panama loves parades), a fiesta with dancers, the school band of the winners would get to play, and the media would cover it. Community is important here. Happy people loved the idea. It is in the works now.
“Can you be at the San Augustine Academy at 8:30 AM on Saturday?”, the First Lady asked. “Of course!” we said, “Why?”. Because that will be the first school program and we want you to talk to the teachers and Principal of the Academy.
So that’s how we got to the back field of the San Augustine Academy talking to these lovely young people. They had begun digging in a nice shady spot which we told them they needed to relocate to allow 6 hours of good sunshine per day or more. They willingly agreed to do so.
We gave them their assignment (build 6 boxes, fill them with 50% clean soil (hard to find here, everyone agreed) and 50% rich humus which has been lying on their grounds for almost 30 years without chemicals.
We told them that these young people and their teachers are the seeds of the future and that they would be making real change possible for everyone in Panama so they needed to work carefully, document faithfully and not be afraid to make mistakes. I believe that it is from our mistakes that we become smart, not from our successes. We told them that and they beamed. They just beamed!
Their assignment includes taking and recording 4 pH readings for each box (total 24) because we know that the soil here will be acidic.
They asked what time we would be back next Saturday and suggested 8 AM. Ugh! Since we are 45 minutes away, we suggested that we meet at 8:30 and they agreed.
The day before, however, we had a success of a completely different kind.
Halfway down the hill (or up it, of course) between Volcan (nearly a mile high) and the near sea level town of Conception, there is a little area called San Vicente, home to a small dairy that makes astonishingly good yogurt and white cheese. We have gotten quite friendly with the couple that runs it, but had to wait until their daughter was home from school in the States to have any in-depth conversation. We did have that conversation about 2 weeks ago and we were asked to come to a Milk Board meeting at MIDA, the Ministry for the Development of Agriculture on Friday, August 21.
We thought that the meeting was going to be about our ideas for the better processing of milk to preserve its health benefits through raw processing of a type that we want to introduce. Instead, it turned out that we were meeting with the Board of the Rural Agriculture Association, with a MIDA representative present. When we told them, representing meat producers, dairy producers and crop farmers, what we bring to Chiriqui, and why, we were met with a level of excitement and warmth that is truly heartening. No one is saying, “But we do it the old way and we are content!” Instead, what we are meeting is, “YES!” Let’s make it better! Let’s bring back wholesome food!” and, everywhere, “YES!” Show us how to get rid of the chemicals because they are killing us!”
In fact, after our wonderful encounter with the kids and teachers at San Augustine Academy yesterday, we stopped to buy some marigolds because we know that they help to keep pests off crops and we wanted to add them to our greenhouses. We gave the owner and his wife (who has a little restaurant by the side of the road next to his shop) our cards and, in their non-existent English and our badly wounded Spanish, we managed to tell them what we were doing and that we were working with the Governor’s office.
They lit up like Christmas trees, took our hands and pulled us to the other side of their restaurant, pointing to a bamboo framework which we could not make out the reason for as we stared at it.
“Hydroponica! Organico!”, they said. They are putting in an organic hydroponic greenhouse of their own design to grow food for themselves, their neighbors and for the little restaurant they have because they are fed up with eating chemicals!
We invited them to the Valley of the Moon, of course and then they asked us if they could bring their friends. Of course they could, we said, but how many friends are they thinking of (we were still rather shell shocked from last Sunday’s loaves and fishes deal). Not more than about 10 – these are an association of friends and neighbors who have formed a group because they share such a passionate interest in natural health, natural food and natural production methods.

When we chose Panama, I must tell you, we did not expect this level of readiness. Our eco demonstration is meeting welcome we never dreamed we might find.
Exactly one year to the day after General Bert and I moved to Panama to continue the health freedom fight AND create the global teaching and service facility called the Valley of the Moon Eco Demonstration Project we were already working with the government of Chiriqui, the province which produced virtually all of Panama’s food and, at their request, disseminating the methods by which anyone, anywhere, can grow their own food.
What else have we accomplished during this amazing year?
Well, we have purchased a headquarters with two houses, renovated one of them, in which we are living and which serves as our offices, undertaken the major renovation of the second house which will house our initial health center, seminar facility, organic restaurant or boutique hotel and built one and a half greenhouses (the second is under construction, but will wait until the Seminar Center is done before we have our workers finish it.
We have initiated our Natural Solutions Conservation Corps and volunteer program with a rebuilding of the houses for the Indian workers which we partially accomplished. The completion of it will require another set of volunteers and we have lots of folks coming!

We need much more than just building skills, of course, as there is a great deal to do and we need eager, able people to do it (and Angels to support those volunteers who are not self-sustaining).
We have refined our financial structure for participation in the Valley of the Moon, including IRA and 401 funds for legal, tax deferred investment and created financial structures which benefit us all. We have opened dialogue with health professionals and other who want to become Joint Venture Partners of the Valley of the Moon Eco Demonstration Project and created a contract which Joint Venture Partners can sign to become part of our success.
We have looked at many, many pieces of property for our final home and, through ups and downs, been relieved of the problem of having made the wrong choice as if we were being cared for by the Great Real Estate Agent in the Sky!
The Natural Solutions Foundation has been assembling the documentation and letters of recommendation necessary to apply for our affiliation with the City of Knowledge, a uniquely Panamanian organization devoted to bringing “best practices” to Panama, which our methods surely are. Twenty five farmers have pledged anywhere from 1 acre to 67.5 acres to use as farm schools to teach other farmers what we teach them so that we really can reclaim the production of food on a demonstration, and then a global basis.
We have, of course, continued the health freedom fight well beyond Panama. The effort to stop GMOs, prevent Codex “HARMonization” and protect against forced, dangerous vaccines, continues with the new joint effort (with Gary Null, PhD, Tedd Koren, DC and others) to “Stop the Shot” and prevent FDA final approval of the “Swine Flu” vaccine (without safety testing!). Gen. Bert and I do dozens of radio shows each month with Alex Jones, Jeff Rense and many, many other people. We have gone to Europe several times to lecture and participate in Codex and other international meetings.
People are coming towards the Valley of the Moon to participate, acquire the right to build their homes here, become part of the Seminar Center, Performance Center, Health Center and build a new way of doing things, including reclaiming the production of food.
So that’s how we spent our anniversary.
